Game of Thrones: 3 Characters who could be the Prince That Was Promised

Game of Thrones Title

Every fantasy story starts with a prophecy, be it Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or even Star Wars. Game of Thrones also starts with a prophecy, the prophecy of the Prince that was promised. The Prince that was promised is a prophesied leader or saviour.  A "bleeding star" is supposed to herald the coming of the prince. The prince is said to have "a song", the song of ice and fire. This Prince is to carry his "Lightbringer" sword to fight darkness and reinvite light to the continent of Westeros.

Although Game of Thrones has a lot of mentions of this prince, it was never made clear as to who this prince really is. So we'll discuss all the characters who might be the Prince that was Promised.

1. Aegon Targaryen/Jon Snow

Aegon Targaryen

Aegon Targaryen, aka Jon Snow, is the best bet we have to who the Prince that was promised could be. He is the real Prince of Westeros, being the son of heir of the heir to Iron Throne. Although everyone had their play in the Grear War that was fought at Winterfell between the living and the dead, Jon Snow was the major contributor. He made everyone believe in what they believed to be a joke. He fought White Walkers and found out how they could be killed (alongside Sam). He convinced Daenerys Targaryen to hold the attack on King's Landing and help him fight against the White Walkers and their Army of the Dead.

The Prince that was promised is said to have a song, a song of Ice and Fire. Aegon had a Stark mother and a Targaryen father; Ice and Fire being the elements of House Stark and House Targaryen respectively. He fit well into each aspect of the prophecy. And seven hells! he came back from the dead because his purpose in life wasn't completed.

So, if you think about it, Aegon Targaryen is the closest we have to the Prince that was promised in the series.

2. Arya Stark

Arya Stark

Aegon Targaryen might be the one to assemble the army of the living and convince Queen Daenerys to help defeat the dead, but he wasn't the one who actually killed the Night King and finished off the war once and for all. It was Arya Stark.

Arya Stark also fits in the prophecy because she is the sister of King in The North, making her a Princess. The prophecy never really said anything about the "Prince"'s gender and Arya killed the Night King, too. So it makes sense for her to be the Princess that was Promised.

3. Daenerys Targaryen

Although Daenerys wasn't the one to unite the armies or kill the Night King, many believe she is the actual  Prince(ss) that was promised. Her dragons were a huge help in defeating the army of the dead. Her army of the Dothraki and the Unsullied were the real power in the Battle of Winterfell. And she was a princess, sister of the heir to the Iron Throne and aunt of Aegon Targaryen. So it makes sense for Khaleesi to be the Prince(ss) that was promised.

We still can't say who the real prophecised Prince is because it is never actually made clear. But because all favours are on Aegon's side and Melisandre's belief in him being the Prince, we can say that Aegon Targaryen/Jon Snow is the best bet we have to be given the name of the Prince that was promised. Even some other characters like Brandon Stark could be the prophecised Prince but for now, we'll just stick to Jon Snow as everything seems to be on his side.
