10 Movie Stars Who Started Their Careers With The Small Screen
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan made his television debut in 1989 with the series Fauji. He went on to become a successful TV actor and finally got his film debut in 1992 with Deewana. Although he is famous for his romantic avatars and his unique way of speaking dialogues, he was initially recognized for portraying villainous roles in the films like Baazigar and Darr. He is now known as the King Khan of Bollywood.
Sushant Singh Rajput
Sushant Singh Rajput made his television debut with the drama serial Pavitra Rishta as the main lead. The show was an immediate success which gave a lot of recognition to the newbie Sushant, many households still calling him Manav after the name of his character from the show. He also participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 4. He later made his Bollywood film debut as one of the three main actors in the film Kai Po Che (2013) based on Chetan Bhagat's 2008 novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life. He later went on to do many films like Shudddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and his most famous and successful, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), based on the life of Indian Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Sadly Sushant Singh Rajput left the world at a very young age. He committed suicide on 14 June 2020 due to unknown reasons, the CBI is reportedly still trying to uncover the truth about his death. The current speculations say that his girlfriend Rhae Chakraborty is involved.
Irrfan Khan
The Bollywood+Hollywood star Irrfan Khan started his career with the drama television series Shrikant in 1987. He went on to start in numerous serials like Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, and Chandrakanta. His Bollywood debut was the film Salaam Bombay (1988). Irrfan has starred in both Bollywood and Hollywood movies and has done well in both. Some of his most iconic films are Life of Pi, Lunchbox, Madaari, Slumdog Millionaire and Jazbaa.
Irrfan Khan left the world on 29 April 2020 at a fairly young age of 53, due to a colon infection. Earlier, in 2018, he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour and a few days later, he left for London for his treatment.

Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan started her career with a comedy sitcom Hum Paanch in 1995 portraying the character of Radhika. She later got her film debut in 2003 with a Bengali film Bhalo theko (“Take Care”). She took another 2 years before she entered Bollywood with her blockbuster Parineeta, co-starring with an already established actor Saif Ali Khan. To date, she has done successful films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Ishqiya, Paa and her most famous, the Dirty Picture.
Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana started his career with a reality show named Roadies 2 and won the show, after which he was a VJ on MTV. Prior to this, he was noticed on the show Channel V: Pop Stars in 2002. He then became a television host, being the multi-talented personality he is, for another reality show India's Got Talent on Colors TV. His Bollywood debut film was Vicky Donor (2012) in which he starred with another debut actor(ess) Yami Gautam. He is also a composer, singer and songwriter, having written, composed and sung famous songs like Pani Da Rang. He later went on to star in many successful films like Dream Girl, Shubh Mangal Savdhan and the critically acclaimed Andhadhun.
Rajeev Khandelwal
Prachi Desai
Prachi Desai made her television debut with Ekta Kapoor’s TV serial Kasam Se, which started in 2006. The show was an immense hit and Prachi is still known by many households as Bani Walia from Kasam Se. She later participated in and won the dance reality show Jhalan Dikhlaa Jaa 2. Prachi made her Bollywood debut in the 2008 film Rock On!! and went on to star in films like Azhar, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, and was last seen in Silence... Can You Hear It?

Yami Gautam
Yami Gautam started her career with the television series Chand Ke Paar Chalo, which started in 2008. She later starred in another show Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam before going into South Indian movies making her debut in lead with the Kannada film Ullasa Utsaha (2009). He then went on to star in films like OK Jaanu, Fitoor, the popular Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and was last seen in Sadak 2 (2020).
