Name Of Every Targaryen King Ever, A House Targaryen Memoir

Iron Throne
Iron Throne
(seat for the ruler of Westeros)

House Targaryen was arguably the most iconic family in Game of Thrones, their heritage proclaimed in striking beauty and their authority over dragons. Targaryens were dragonlords in the Valyrian Freehold before the Doom of Valyria. Some even say it was the Targaryens who caused the Doom, so as to be able to achieve enough power to instantiate the greatest dynasty the world has ever known. While it is still unknown if they truly were the reason behind the Doom of Valyria, they did become the greatest dynasty the ASOIAF world has ever known: the Targaryen Dynasty which ruled over Westeros for almost 300 years.

A century after the Doom of Valyria, Aegon I of the House Targaryen, descended from the high lords of the ancient Freehold of Vayria, who escaped to Dragonstone during the Doom, begins his conquest to conquer, unite and rule over the continent of Westeros along with his two sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys. He conquers 6 kingdoms out of 7 successfully, the last one joins their region in the following centuries. The House Targaryen ruled over Westeros for centuries following Aegon's Conquest, lastly being dethroned during Robert's Rebellion led by allied rebels of Houses Baratheon, Stark and Arryn.

Targaryen dynasty suffered a terrible end at the hands of Lannister, Baratheon, Stark and Arryn army. This end could have been prevented if Rhaegar didn't do what he did- kidnap Lyanna.
